Thanksgiving...
Gratitude overwhelms me
Today I am feeling grateful for all the blessings I have received.
Two years ago, I was living in a Residential Reentry Center (federal halfway house). I shared a bunkbed with another recent guest of the Feds. I had an 18-square-foot locker with all my stuff plus a tote under the bunk for my shoes.
Today I live in a 500-square-foot condo by myself. No cellies, no noise from guys screaming across the unit, just peace and quiet. I keep the place clean and, having lived in much smaller quarters (84 square feet for two adult men), feel like this is a spatial chalet. I ride my bike several times a week and relish getting out on two wheels. Little things like being able to go to the grocery store when I need something, or listening to music on my phone, make for a good life.
Life is good, especially when you count your blessings.
